Halbot K. Brown (Phiz): "The Man Who Drew Dickens."

Phiz was an eminent nineteenth-century British book illustrator. The stories of Dickens have been gifted with the illustrations of many artists, but Phiz is my favorite, which is why I've decided to dedicate a page on this little site entirely to him.

It's a delightful occasion to flip the page and find a Phiz illustration there waiting for me. It's a refreshing pause to gaze at the drawing and reflect on the story up until that point.

I suppose, besides maybe the simple introduction I've given, words are of little use here. Phiz's illustrations are the essential element here, so without further delay, here are some of my favorites from David Copperfield...
